Ubuntu Global Jam – Day 1
I’ve downloaded all isos that I shall need this weekend: Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu and Ubuntu (of course!). By different reasons I only could work last night but it isn’t matter, last night was Lubuntu Testing night! \o/
I’ve tested Lubuntu (amd64 – normal and alternate versions) And for my big surprise, Lubuntu isos worked too perfect 
I hope this day will be more productive and I can work on testing applications and Ubuntu testing as well.

Getting Started with Autopilot in Spanish [video]
Hi folks!
In this cycle I’m working with the Ubuntu QA and yesterday I had a nice talk with Nicolas (balloons) about autopilot , so I’m getting started to work with Autopilot and I had the idea to do something about autopilot in Spanish (there is not documentation about it in Spanish now), and is there something more great than a video? I guess not
So I took the chance and I have made a short video about “Getting Started with Autopilot”, it is not nothing big, but I think it might be help to some Spanish contributors.

Los números de 2012
Los duendes de las estadísticas de WordPress.com prepararon un informe sobre el año 2012 de este blog.
Aquí hay un extracto:
600 personas llegaron a la cima del monte Everest in 2012. Este blog tiene 3.200 visitas en 2012. Si cada persona que ha llegado a la cima del monte Everest visitara este blog, se habría tardado 5 años en obtener esas visitas.
[Solución a:] Kernel driver not installed on VirtualBox
Este es un error bastante frecuente cuando se trabaja con virtualbox, o al menos a mi me pasa muy seguido! y tiene que ver con un problema en el modulo del kernel del virtualbox y te das cuenta de ellos ya que al abrir la aplicación el error salta a primer plano.
Aquí les dejo una imagen del error:
La solución… es simplemente ejecutar el comando que te muestra la ventana como usuario root, luego en mi caso me gusta revisar el nuevo estado de virtualbox una vez he actualizado el kernel interno.
[Solución a:] error: file ‘/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod’ not found.
El día de ayer me encontraba haciendo una instalación en limpio en mi propio laptop, lo mismo que hago siempre después de cada cierto tiempo… cuando al finalizar la instalación (que hasta el momento transcurrió sin novedad) retire mi usb y reinicié, fue entonces cuando me salio este error:

Me puse a investigar un poco acerca de este problema y por supuesto su posible solución, resumiendo encontré que el problema radicaba en que el Grub2 no podía encontrar ciertos archivos del directorio /boot o no podía direccionarlos y esto se podía deducir por el promt que se generaba: grub rescue>_ esta información la encontré en la documentación oficial de la comunidad junto con otros errores relacionado al Grub y Grub2 en este enlace:

Después de intentar una serie de soluciones, probé la solución a la que menos le tenia fe y era el uso de la herramienta BootRepair

La herramienta de muestra una serie de opciones las cuales personalizas, en mi caso recurrí a instalar el Grub2 completamente esta opción no me tomo mas de 20minutos y mi sistema volvió a trabajar normalmente, lo mas interesante es que si debes ingresar unos comandos en la consola, el asistente te dice cuales son he indica que partición debes referenciar (/dev/sda7 en mi caso). Por supuesto el uso de esta aplicación lo realice vía LiveCD para lo cual lo instale en el mismo y desde allí lo corrí.
Espero que esta información les sea de utilidad, como dije soluciona cualquier problema con el Grub de manera sencilla y rápida
Playing World Of Warcraft with Ubuntu
This week I had the chance to play World Of Warcraft (wow) Mist of Pandarian, I have played it before but the performance was not the best or I had to do a lot of things to get a good configuration and performance.
So when the new expansion arrived, I was prepared to work a lot for trying to configure wine, winetricks, config.wtf (file of wow) and even more… but my big surprise when I only have to change the video support to OpenGL and a small configuration in Wine and thats all!!!
WoW running on Ubuntu 12.04
If you have the game in your computer, just move the game folder to your Ubuntu partition (/home/YourUser/wow). Once here you have to edit the file called “Config.wtf”, adding the line:
SET gxApi “opengl”
About Wine the only tip that I can share is: change the configuration to work emulating win7… and thats all! now you are ready to play without any problem! by the way: I have better performance than using win7 as operative system.

Probando Steam en mi Ubuntu 12.10
Hace unos días me llego un email donde me informaban de mi activación como cliente de la beta de steam gracias a mi participación en la Ubuntu Developer Summit, pero no tuve tiempo de probarlo hasta ahora y la verdad quede impresionado, es muy fácil de instalar y su interfaz muy sencilla de manejar ademas que aporta una solución aun problema que hemos tenido en el mundo de los sistemas GNU/Linux y es la producción de jugos de calidad nativos, al menos con un cliente en .deb para nuestro mundo ya es un gran paso para superar este inconveniente.

My First Ubuntu Developer Summit UDS-R
I had the chance to be part of this Ubuntu Developer Summit UDS-R, it was my first UDS and I was really excited about the idea of meet a lot of people, especially the LoCo Council and Mark.
But socialize was not the only thing I did, I had time to talk about community especially with Daniel Holbach and Chris Crisafully, and I saw how some projects are working, besides a lot of news: Steam, Nexus7, Android, Community even more!
¿What was the most impressive thing of the UDS for me?
I think, it was the possibility of working with people from all the world in person, meet different cultures, see different points of view and share the conclusions… It is the most powerful tool of Ubuntu in action: The Community

[Solución a:] No se ha instalado correctamente el gestor de energia!
En mi trabajo como sysadmin, acabo de toparme por primera vez con este error: No se ha instalado correctamente el gestor de energía. El mensaje salio al iniciar sesión en modo gráfico con un server externo al que por petición de los dueños se le instalo entorno gráfico (gnome2).
Como era habitual pensé que era un problema de las ups’s o algo con el indicador ya que al iniciar sesión se congelaba el sistema y solo se podía ingresar por las lineas VTY, alguna de esas locuras…. pero luego de mucho molestar recurrí a buscar información en la web. Donde pude encontrar la solución gracias a ubuntu-es:
- Hay que modificar los permisos de los archivos temporales: sudo chmod 777 /tmp
Y problema solucionado, luego solo reinicia: sudo reboot now
Y entra al modo gráfico normalmente.
